This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Alabama Child Health Improvement Alliance (ACHIA).
Buoyed by improved asthma care and the enthusiastic participation of Chapter members in the AAP’s Asthma Continuous Quality Network, the Alabama Chapter of the AAP convened statewide partners in the summer of 2013 to enlist support to establish a standing quality improvement (QI) partnership. With technical assistance from the National Improvement Partnership Network (NIPN) and buy-in from payors, children’s hospitals and academic pediatric departments, the Chapter moved forwarded quickly to establish the Alabama Child Health Improvement Alliance in January 2014.
ACHIA featured in the AAP News for its accomplishments over the last 10 years
Over the last decade, ACHIA has developed and conducted a dozen nine-month, QI collaboratives, with topics based on the ability of pediatricians to improve outcomes with clinical process improvements as well as the opportunity to partner with others in the state.
